At the SGB we feel that the education of prospective beekeepers and established beekeepers alike, is essential.

FIELD DAY SESSION
'Hands-on' Beekeeping Session

Dates:  TBA
Time:   12.30PM 
TO 4.30PM (approx)
Students will be involved in opening beehives, watching hardware in use, testing procedures.
The beginner class is an introduction to help you to 1. decide if beekeeping is for you and 2. learn as much as you can before you start your beekeeping adventure.

Join the Club too!
​It's a great way of learning and socialising ​with other beekeepers, new and experienced.
Beekeeping Clubs are great for:
1. Learning about beekeeping
2. Preparing to become a beekeeper
3. Connecting with beekeeping networks
4. Ongoing education
5. Acquiring equipment
6. Listening to beekeepers
7. Getting a mentor
8. Visiting local beekeepers at work
This course will help you to understand the need for bees, the breeding,  development and the care of bees plus the monitoring, identification, testing and possible eradication of pests and diseases which can result in a threat to food bio-security across the country. You will also learn to to construct and maintain hive hardware. The use of different types of hives plus where to purchase hardware and how to buy or acquire bees for your hives.
