Honey and Mead Tasting Competition The honey and mead tasting competition for 2025 included 14 honey entries and two vintages of Mead from Barry McGann. We started the evening with a mini masterclass by Honey Sommelier, Jess Locarnini. She encouraged us to get creative with our descriptions of the honey and it was a lively session with everyone sharing their impressions. The winning honey, with undertones of butterscotch or salted caramel, was entered by Lea Pope, and we all appreciated her honey cake which was made with her lovely honey. Well done Jackie for picking the honey that was in the cake! Steven Checkley came second place, and four entries tied for third, Anna Jones, Nola Bibby, Andrew Cochrane and Jackie Checkley. The 2022 vintage was the winning mead.
